Leisure Networks to share in $5 Million Grant to Drive All-Abilities Sports Initiatives

Leisure Networks is thrilled to have been announced as one of two organisations to share in $5 million funding from the All Abilities Workforce and Sector Support Program 2024-27. This grant will allow us to increase participation and employment in sport, focusing on people with disabilities in regional and rural Victoria.

Based in Geelong, Leisure Networks coordinates a wide range of disability services and programs across the state. The grant will enable us to expand our networks across regional Victoria, providing more opportunities for individuals with disabilities to secure jobs and increase participation in the sports sector.

Local MPs also voiced their support:

  • Christine Couzens, Member for Geelong:
“Leisure Networks do great work for our Geelong community and regional Victorians more broadly. This grant will make a world of difference to support their work. People with disabilities should have the same access as anyone else and the work of Leisure Networks is another step towards inclusion.”
  • Ella George, Member for Lara:
“Disability should not be a barrier to work in any industry. These initiatives will help break down the unfair barriers that people with a disability face, including those in the Greater Geelong area.”
  • Alison Marchant, Member for Bellarine:
“These great initiatives will be a game changer for people with a disability in the Bellarine community, providing support to get involved in the sports they love closer to home.”

The All Abilities Workforce and Sector Support Program 2024-27 is a critical step toward creating more inclusive opportunities in the Victorian sport and recreation workforce. With over one million people in Victoria living with a disability, this initiative aims to significantly increase participation in sport and active recreation.
