The
From Parallel Sports to the World Stage: Mitch’s Journey
One standout example of Parallel Sports’ impact is the journey of local athlete Mitchell Bond. Diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis at just six months old, Mitch was introduced to Parallel Sports at the age of eight after his family moved to Geelong.
With the support and guidance of the program, he discovered a passion for wheelchair racing and basketball. That early connection helped shape a pathway to elite sport — today, Mitch is an international-level athlete and has recently received a scholarship to study Sports Science at the University of Texas at Arlington, USA, where he will also compete on their wheelchair basketball team
