Leisure Networks’ Glee program wrapped up 2025 with a dazzling concert, Ways to be Wicked, held at the Geelong Arts Centre. Seven talented Glee members of varying abilities thrilled an audience of over 50 with both group and solo performances, showcasing their passion, creativity, and dedication.
The evening opened with the playful short play Not So Bad After All, followed by a powerful group performance of Bill Withers’ Lean on Me, setting the tone for a night full of joy and talent.
Kaye then captured the audience’s hearts with a heartfelt rendition of Celine Dion’s iconic My Heart Will Go On, her emotion and vocal power leaving a lasting impression. Cole brought infectious energy to the stage with his performance of Tom Cochrane’s Life is a Highway with his ukulele, while Bowen wowed everyone with a vibrant dance inspired by Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, moving to hits including CeCe Peniston’s Finally and Alicia Bridges’ I Love the Nightlife.
Janice lit up the room as she signed I Can See a Rainbow, demonstrating incredible dedication and expressive connection. John enchanted the audience with Taylor Swift’s Enchanted, and Madison showcased her vocal talent with Let It Go from Frozen.
While Airlie wasn’t able to take the stage, she played a supportive role for her fellow performers, and Julia, who was unwell, joined the experience virtually via live stream. The evening also featured a surprise, impromptu performance by Sammy, which had the crowd cheering in delight.
The success of Ways to be Wicked is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Amanda and Zara, who lead the Glee program, ensured each performer had the support, guidance, and encouragement they needed to shine. Support workers Ainsley, Kane, Ky, and Susie provided consistent behind-the-scenes assistance, while up-and-coming performer Will helped with choreography, adding sparkle to every routine.
Glee is more than singing and dancing, it’s a vibrant community where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and creativity flourishes. Cole said, “I like coming to Glee to spend time with my friends. I like playing my guitar and the ukulele and singing my favorite songs.” Bowen added, “I love to dance and to see my friends. I love to get dressed up.” Their words perfectly capture the spirit of the program: a joyful space where participants can explore their talents, express themselves, and connect with others.
Leisure Networks is incredibly proud of every Glee performer, from star soloists to ensemble members, for their courage, creativity, and dedication. Kaye summed it up beautifully: “I love meeting new people, I love singing and dancing, I love learning new things.” By the end of the night, the audience left the Arts Centre inspired, uplifted, and smiling from ear to ear, celebrating the incredible talent, heart, and community spirit of Glee.
Here’s to another year of song, dance, and community, Glee truly proves there are countless ways to be wicked!
