Celebrating Community Sport at Golden Plains Rec Fest

Golden Plains Shire came alive during Rec Fest — a vibrant celebration of community, connection and the power of local sport.

Leisure Networks was proud to be part of the day, hosting a wheelchair basketball activation that gave people the chance to experience inclusive sport in action. The activity invited community members to jump into a wheelchair, have a go, and see just how fun and accessible sport can be for everyone.

Rec Fest also provided a great opportunity for local clubs to connect with Leisure Networks and learn more about the support available to help strengthen community sport. This includes resources and training opportunities for volunteers, helping clubs create welcoming and inclusive environments for all participants.

A wide range of local clubs were part of the event, showcasing the diversity of sport across the region. These included Bannockburn Angling Club, Bannockburn Cricket Club, Bannockburn Football Netball Club, Bannockburn Soft Tennis, Dolphins Basketball Club, Golden Plains Soccer Club, Inverleigh Bowls Club, Inverleigh Football Netball Club, Play Like a Girl, Lethbridge Football & Netball Club and Leighdale Equestrian Centre.

Rec Fest was a fantastic day celebrating local sport and the important role clubs play in bringing communities together.

Leisure Networks respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of Australia. We are committed to inclusive communities.
