With the latest announcements from the state and federal governments around COVID-19, and Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire becoming a mandatory mask zone from Wednesday 22nd July at 11.59pm we wanted to provide you with an update on Leisure Networks current position in this challenging and uncertain time of COVID -19.
Government Recommendations for face masks in Victoria:
The Victorian Government are now requesting all Victorians wear a face mask when you are outside of your home and are unable to maintain 1.5m distance between yourself and others, along with making face masks now mandatory in Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
If you live and/or work in Melbourne or Mitchell Shire:
All Leisure Networks staff living and/or working in Melbourne or the Mitchell Shire will be wearing face masks at all times whilst supporting our customers, which includes in home, travelling in cars and visiting shopping centres.
If you live and/or work in Geelong/Regional Victoria:
All Leisure Networks staff living and/or working in Geelong and Regional Victoria will be wearing face masks while supporting customers in home, travelling in cars, or in the community if they are unable to maintain 1.5m social distance. In some instances customers may request our staff to wear one at all times which we completely support.

Are face masks compulsory?
All Victorians in lockdown areas – Melbourne and Mitchell Shire – must wear face masks in public.
What constitutes a face mask?
All the usual face masks can be worn, but so can scarves and bandanas, as the state government realises not everyone will have the access or financial means to a factory-made mask.
What happens If I don’t wear a face mask?
Anyone who does not comply will be hit with a $200 fine unless police are convinced you qualify for one of the four reasons.
What are the four reasons?
- It may be reasonable not to wear a mask if you are going for a run
- You have medical issues that make mask wearing difficult
- You have a job that is not amenable to mask wearing
- You are a child aged under 12 years old.
But even if you fall into one of those categories you must still carry a mask with you while you are outside.
What are the four reasons I can leave home in the Melbourne and Mitchell Shire?
- Going to work or school;
- Care or care giving;
- Daily exercise;
- Buying food and other essentials
We know that many people we support and their families are needing important supports at this challenging time. We are doing everything we can to continue supporting all our customers.
Supports we can provide to help keep customers healthy, safe and connected
- Supporting people in their home or single night 1:1 respite services outside the home
- Assisting with house cleaning, gardening and meal preparation
- Taking people to appointments or early morning shopping
- One to one supports for safe outdoor activities
- Picking up medicines, shopping or other essentials
- Conducting online learning and research as part of SLES or other NDIS goal
