Senior Project Officer – Social Inclusion
Creating Healthy Sporting Environments


Leisure Networks Association Inc. is a community based, not for profit organisation appointed by VicHealth to deliver an innovative Demonstration Project to work with 100 sporting clubs to develop Healthy Sporting Environments.
As Senior Project Officer – Social Inclusion you will:

  • be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that build the capacity of 100 sports clubs to meet minimum standards in relation to the creation of a safe and inclusive environment for women, and people from CALD backgrounds.
  • have appropriate tertiary qualifications in areas such as Social Sciences, Community Development or equivalent
  • have substantial experience in community development and in addressing race-based discrimination and/or gender equity

This is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate person to make a real difference for sport and recreation club environments.
Type of Position: Full time, contract to 29 March 2013
Salary:  $65,208 per annum plus 9% superannuation
Benefits: Salary Packaging to $16,050, work flexibility

GOOD SPORTS PROJECT OFFICER

To deliver the Good Sports Program with sporting clubs based in the Colac Otway Shire and Surf Coast Shire (target clubs to be identified). Program delivery includes all communications, contact and administration required to assist clubs in achieving accreditations within the Good Sports Program


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Achieve targets for clubs and accreditations
• Implementation and coordination of the Good Sports program in their area
• Attend club meetings and liaise with club representative
• Provision of support to clubs participating in the program
• Monitoring of the clubs participating in the program

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
• Effective communication skills across a wide range of audiences.
• Knowledge and experience with community based sporting organisations.
• Administrative skills including written and electronic.
• High level of initiative, maturity and ability to accept and assume responsibility.
• Current Driver’s License and own vehicle
• Experience in community development or health promotion.
• A genuine desire to help community sporting clubs.
• An understanding of the culture of alcohol in Australian sporting clubs.
